Anzac Day poker run ride with Hell's Angels MC

This is a story of our Anzac Day ride with Hell's Angels' MC.

The ride was held on April 25, 2007. It was organised by the Sydney Chapter of Hell’s Angel’s but many other clubs and individuals were in attendance. Overall, an estimate of 2500 bikes took part.

Now, I may view any war-related celebration slightly different to how others see them, but that’s just me. For me, the social aspect of the event is more important:

And even if you don’t like choppers, when you arrive at a party like this, you just can’t help yourself, but climb one of these shiny things and pull some levers:

In the meantime, many more rice-burners were arriving. Notice how all the number plates are covered with the Anzac plate sticker — their purpose was to keep riders safe from getting a red light camera ticket while on the poker run. More on that later:

People were mingling around and socialising:

This is my bro, dude:

The crowd was growing despite of the bloody rain that just would not stop:

So I left my baby-puss to flirt with the boys and went to take some snapshots:

A reminder, this is a bikeies’ event:

Therefore, there were, oh, so many colourful personalities around:

Many brought their women along:

I was told that some of these scary-looking men were not fond of being photographed, but I did what I always do — pretended that I don’t speak English. Sometimes it pays off to be a foreigner :

But in reality, these blokes are not scary at all, they are more like a bunch of never-aging Peter Pans:

There were so many different types around. From some chopper-looking dudes:

to Christian brotherhood types:

At midday, the president of Hell's Angels MC gave a speech:

There was also a moment of silence held for the fallen ones:

And nobody noticed how the enemy’s aviation moved in on us :

It turns out that the cops were planning a big ambush on the procession. But the bikers were still unaware and started lining up into a 1.5km-long formation:

Just a reminder — most were travelling anonymously:

And that’s when it started — first, the donut-gobblers were picking their victims one by one out of the crowd, breaking the ranks with patrol cars and bikes:

Then they just stopped the whole procession altogether, creating a huge, messy traffic jam:

Those who did not uncover their plates in time, received unwanted autographs from the stars that stole the show:

We were Ok, though. They’re not gonna get us:

I made good use of the unscheduled stop and went around to make some snapshots:

While I was at it, this tights-wearing, nazi-looking fuckwit was running after me screaming: "No photos!":

Although, I must say there were plenty of Nazis on both sides. Some Anzac Day spirit, hey :)

Then, the procession was on the move once again (the video is not mine):

But it was not the same any more.

We were escorted by two(!) police choppers all the way to Picton, where bikers were allowed to have a beer behind bars, which separated us from the rest of the family-friendly town. We had enough of this, parted with the main procession and went the opposite way.

After riding the twisies around Mittagion area, we headed back to Sydney to warm up with a hot cup of tea:

And a beer.

Some say that there were naked chicks at the Angels’ club house that night...
